fly fishing dead drift
Can you get sick from eating a sick/dying fish.?

I went Fly Fishing today on the Gunpowder River (MD) and saw a very large fish drifting on its back downstream. I was surprised how big it was so I went and got a closer look. It really looked dead but I gave it a push anyway, and to my amazement, it started to swim away from me. I then quickly netted it and got it on shore ( barely fit into my net ). I thought why not take it home, clean it and eat it, since it was going to die anyway. I however don’t know if eating the fish could make me sick. One of its eyes was sorta bloated, but besides that it looked healthy. By the way the fish was a 21 inch brown trout around 7 pounds, which is huge for that part of the river.

I think that is just fine! i wouldn’t worry i eat fish all the time(like rainbow trout
dolphin e.t.c) but i haven’t gotten sick yet……
