You have been stuck in the house for the last few months and you are itching to get out and do some fishing. Here are 3 basic crappie fishing tips to make your spring crappie fishing trips more successful.
1. Spring Crappie Depths
Crappie have been held up in deep water all winter long but with the water is starting to warm up now they are starting to move into there spawning season. The males will come up into warmer shallow water during this time of year and build a bowl liked nest in the lake bottom. This is a great time to get out and catch a stringer of fishing. More times then not your stringer will be full of mostly make crappie. This is called the spawning season.
2. Spring Crappie Movements
While the spawning season is going on they are very protective of this nest and will run anything away that gets close to it. Crappie fishing at this time of year can be real fun even if you do not have a boat.
3. Spring Crappie Baits
Since the crappie are on the beds, you can usually see them from the shore line and be able to toss a lure their way and watch them strike it. Toss a small feathered or plastic bodied jig into the area nearest the bank and watch them turn into a ferocious beast trying to protect the nest.
