Reef Fishing Paradise Island

TV technicians, would you like to live in a tropical paradise….?
My 15mth old philips plasma TV has decided to have a rest, it was working fine last night but today its no go. It wasn’t a power surge as it was unplugged. The green light comes on and thats all. Problem is I live in a city of 180,000 but there is only one TV repair business and it could be up to 2mths before they can look at it. If any techies can give me idea of if it is repairable and how much it might cost to repair, I would appreciate it, if its a no go at least I can start saving for a new one. Townsville, Queensland,Australia is on southern latitude 19, sub tropical 14-30 C, 74-85F, on the coast bordered by the ‘Great Barrier Reef’, best deep sea diving and fishing in the world, islands just off shore, beach fishing of 6Lb or 15Kg not unusual, sounds good and its even better to live here, especially for families.
Well unfortunately I’m too darn BUSY to have a go at it….
BUT…we can ISOLATE your problem.
A TV set has sound and picture…Either one tells you the signal board is ok, at least initially.
If you don’t have picture and sound, then we have to verify if the Plasma Panel has PRIMED or not…
PRIMING is when the TV set’s display panel goes from all-black to a gentle-gray…it’s when power is actually applied to the panel…
IF it does not PRIME, then it’s the MAIN POWER Board or the Y-SUS board (they both work together to prime the panel…
You have to PRIME the TV first, then your Picture and Sound circuits activate afterwards. Literally, speaking that is…
So…if it’ primes, get the signal board.
If it does NOT prime, get the Y-sus and Power board.
You have a volt-meter perhaps?
You can then measure the Power supply and see if it’s outputting the Va Voltage to the Y-sus board and save some money…
Parts cost can be £100 to £200.
