Fly Fishing Vail
Which flies to flyfish on the Eagle River (CO)?
I’m a flyfisher from VA, and will be travelling to Vail, for business, in February. I’m taking a day to fish the Eagle River. (5 wt rod). What flies do you recommend for winter fishing? Should I fish streamers or dries?
You may see some blue winged olives (small) or midges depending on the weather,but I would venture to say you’re gong to be fishing deep with wooly-boogers and nymphs
(copper john, pheasant tail, hare’s ear, prince)
A 5 wt is is just fine
