Fishing Tackle Sea Bass

fishing tackle sea bass
fishing in ponds how to set up tackle , if useing prawns for?

salt water fish like sea bass are in the large pond , fish are kept in nets for a few days then released each day , twice I have gone to this pond , with no catch , lots of nibbles , seems every body round me catches fish , they say use live prawns , expensive , plus main bunch of locals cast round the nets that stock the fish to be release , so crowded and a lot of cross lines so avoid this area , any ideas , ideas on tackle to use would help as i cant cast to the holding nets to far for me , thanks again

Where exactly is this place? I want to check and see if all this fishing is legal (I think it is not) as penned fish are for restocking into the wild or…. Raised to be sold for food. Which means the fish are owned by someone and it’s not the locals. Stay as far away from them as you can they are cheaters, thief’s and hooligans.
Thanks for getting back to me and clarifying the situation. Try this.
I would suggest circle or octopus hooks and strips of squid like about 2mm wide by10mm long fold in half allowing one of the lengths to be 1mm or so longer than the other. Put the hook through both pieces of the squid right at the fold over into the fold about 1 1/2mm up from the fold. Using a double tie on weight maybe 1/2oz or so up or down by an 1/8oz still ok tied on about 2/3 meter (2 foot) from the hook and casting it will straighten out the squid so in the water it will trail and ripple like a ribbon when retrieved intermittently. (you are looking for the look of an eel) fast, slow, fast, stop, fast, stop, slow, fast, etc. I would bet the fish will hit it on the fast retrieve mostly. Also using (in conjunction with a strip of squid) a 10mm swimbait would offer the biggest sight bait as well. But if you do use the swimbait don’t fold over the squid just put it on the swim bait hook using a 3/8 ounce leadhead instead and no additional weight.
