Fishing Calgary Lakes
Where to fish in and around Calgary, Alberta?
Me and my dad are going fishing in a couple weeks and we need a good lake to go to for fishing. Just normal fishing on land, no Fly Fishing. Any ideas?
Thats a tough one as there are not that many “lakes” near Calgary, though we do have lots of nice river fishing.. there’s lake newell which is about 3 hours east of Calgary. Pine lake which is about 2 hours north. Sylvan lake which is also about 2 hours north. All three are good for walleye and pike, Or if you want something in Calgary there is the glenmore reservoir which is ok for trout..
You could also try fishing on the Bow river, there’s dozens of good spots, just pick a lower area and cast away. Also Carseland dam just outside town.
